I’d like to tell you how much I love you… in the only truly nerdy way I know how. This winter has been overly extended and cold, but our adventures and fun have overshadowed any bitter bits. Everyday from the moment I wake up, I look forward to seeing you after our 9-to-5′s. I look forward to happy hour, dinner, playing with Stella, our weekends. Every single day, I look forward to sharing the next and the next and the next with you.

So as it is Valentine’s Day, I thought this would be the perfect time to reflect on our story (because it’s kind of the best story ever). And even at risk of this sounding uber cheesefest, you are my beacon. That fire, that celebration in life. It’s you. And I’m lucky to have it everyday. I love you so.

Oh sweet action bunny, with your gold pants. And your cute front paw, perfectly placed to gesture joyful frolicking… Thank you, Jen Ray, for creating a sweet clay creature that now happily follows behind my overly pink + glossy vintage terrier. They might be a match made in heaven.

I’ve been wanting to submit something to the tumblr blog, things organized neatly, for quite sometime. With the snowboard season finally hitting the east coast, I was inspired to organize and compartmentalize my attire.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Fun

Holiday times have arrived and it was in that spirit that we decided to have a little fun with our good friends, Jesse & Cally. We dressed up in holiday attire from My Ugly Christmas Sweater and decided to have ourselves a photoshoot. I can completely understand the affection for themed holiday parties with these terrifyingly unattractive items… Wearing them just makes you want to drive all over town and get silly.

A Daydream Wish List

This may not come as much of a surprise, but my affection for Anthropologie is rather… extreme. I’d say that I frequent the website a time or two or three… per day, on average. I add to cart. I add to wish list. I drag and drop images of affection to my desktop and stare at them longingly. Anthropologie is whimsy and magic in a great big cup of awesome.

I received their most recent catalogue for winter. It had a SPINE – it was really more like a beautiful book. After heavy breathing and muffled squealing, I went online and put together a list of images I adored from their newest collection of goods. From a visual distance, they were easily split into three categories of glitter, polka-dots and bright soiree dresses. Here’s a little inspirational fun for you! Daydreaming is free, so get to it.

I’m not gonna say I don’t occasionally get a hankering for tropical paradise, or the ocean at all for that matter. And I’m not gonna lie, I sometimes daydream about living in a city, eating legit fish tacos, or snowboarding in real powder on REAL mountains. But, Vermont! There is something about you I can’t resist. Try as I might.

Double-sided Eraser Stamp

On Saturday mornings, my dog will often wake me up like a normal Monday-Friday at 7am for walks/food/water/play. She doesn’t realize it’s a sleep-in day. No matter how much I tell her. Once I’m awake, sleeping-in becomes a distant anticipated memory of what will never come to be. She, however, happily snuggles back to bed after all four above items have been achieved.

This morning, knowing I had a couple hours before our day officially started, I decided to conquer the ever-rivaled eraser stamp. I suck at these. As I carve away, I inevitably carve too much, until I accidentally destroy what I’ve worked on for far too long. It’s an eraser! Who cares! This project really was no different. I will admit that I had two or three erasers and tried far too many times to make something awesome…

To make a lovely double sided eraser stamp, you don’t need much. And the simpler the design, the better (for me this seems true, anyway). They are great for stamping on any blank tag, card, or gift wrap. You could even try fabric paint and stamp right on fabric!

You will need:

a carving tool (which you can buy at any art supply store)
eraser
ink pad
pencil

Step 1: Think of a design + draw it on the eraser. If it’s not symmetrical and needs to face a specific direction, you will need to do it backwards. You can achieve this by drawing it first on tracing paper and then transferring the design onto the eraser by rubbing the back of the tracing paper with your pencil.

Step 2: Start carving out the design! Things I’ve learning: go slow, don’t make deep cuts, and remember where your positive and negative space are. I did a design on both sides of my eraser. Two designs for one!

Step 3: Test stamp time. Ink up your stamp and test it on paper. You’ll be able to gage any adjustments to the design and any eraser bits you still need to carve away. Repeat until you’re happy with your design.

That’s it! So easy! End result? With the oh-so-popular nautical theme on my noggin, I incorporated a cute anchor and nautical stripes into my initials TH. Weee! Stella (lucky dog) is still happily napping.
